HR Data Hard to Destroy? Here’s the Fix
A question that keeps coming up
"HR data is hard to destroy" is something we hear a lot. The difficulty was never really technical. The real problem is that no clear policy exists saying when each type of data gets destroyed, or how.
A fix in two parts
First, a retention schedule by data type and sector: hiring files get one retention period, payroll records another, performance reviews a third. Second, a destruction log that documents when it happened, what it covered, and who carried it out. Something an auditor can actually check.
Without that log, even correctly destroyed data proves nothing to anyone reviewing your practices.
